Tarihte Kıpçak ve Oğuzların hâkimiyet mücadelelerinin görüldüğü Çoruh havzasında yer alan Yusufeli, ağız çalışmaları bakımından dikkate değer özelliklere sahiptir. Tarihî ve çağdaş Türk lehçeleri ile Türkiye Türkçesi ağızlarında farklılıklar gösteren geniş zaman ve şimdiki zaman fiil çekimleri, Ersis ağzında da yörenin tarihi ve kültürel oluşumuna bağlı olarak kendine has hususiyetler taşır. Ersis ağzında, şimdiki zaman ve geniş zaman çekimlerinde görülen aşınma, tek şekillilik veya işaretsiz görev ögelerini (ø); dilde kolaylık kanunu ile bölgenin kültürel ve tarihî dokusunda aramak gerekir.
Yusufeli, located in Çoruh river basin where occured sovereignty wars of Kıpçak and Oğuz nations in the history, has remarkable properties in terms of dialect researches. Simple present tense and present continuous tense conjugations which have differences in Turkey Turkish dialects as well as in historical and contemporary Turkish dialects show their own unique characteristics in Ersis dialect depending on the region's historical and cultural formation. In Ersis dialect, erosion, single form or unmarked (/.Ø./) functional elements that are seen in simple present tense and present continuous tense conjugations need to search with language economy in the region's historical and cultural texture. In this study, /-r/, / (y)Er/, /-(y)Ür/ suffix used in simple present tense and present continuous tense conjugations have been examined and focused on functional differences of these.
