Yabancı Dil Eğitimi alanındaki çalışmalar, son on yıllarda yepyeni boyutlar kazanmıştır. Yabancı dil öğretim yöntemleri değişime uğramış, günümüz iletişimsel koşullarının getirisi olarak geleneksel ve öğretmen merkezli yöntemlerin yerini çağdaş, öğrenci merkezli ve kültürel karşılaştırma odaklı öğrenme yöntemleri almıştır. Bu çalışmada, yabancı dili hızlı ve etkili öğretmeye yönelik ortaya atılan ve bugün dünyada ilgi çeken yöntemlerden biri olan, “telkin yöntemi” ele alınmıştır. Bu yöntem, “Lozanov yöntemi” olarak da bilinmektedir. Telkin yöntemine göre öğrenci, mantığının, duygularının ve ahlaki değerlerinin sebep olduğu bir takım engellerle sınıfa gelmektedir. Öğrencilerin beraberinde getirmiş oldukları bu engellerden “telkinlerle ve “sağlanan belli imkanlarla” sıyrılmaları hedeflenmektedir. Bu yöntemde, öğrenme ortamına ve ortamı düzenleyecek olan öğretmene önemli bir görev atfedilir. Öğretmen otoriteyi ve güveni temsil eder. Yöntemin uygulanacağı sınıflar, grafik, kavram haritaları ve tablolarla donatılmalıdır ve buna ek olarak müzik vazgeçilmez unsurdur. İnsanın ruhsal açıdan dinlenmesini sağlayan klasik ve barok özellikteki müzik parçaları, öğrenme seviyesinin en üst düzeye çıkmasına yardımcı olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada gelişmiş ülkelerde bu yöntemi uygulayan dil kursları ve özel dil enstitüleri olduğu halde, ülkemizde bu yöntemin henüz gereken ilgiyi bulmadığından yola çıkılmış ve telkin yönteminin yabancı dil öğretmenleri arasında tanınmışlık oranını ve yaygınlığını ortaya koymak ve yabancı dil öğretmenlerinin bu konudaki görüşlerini almak için bir anket uygulanmıştır. Veriler çağdaş yabancı dil öğretim yöntemlerine göre değerlendirilmiştir. Ulaşılan sonuçlar doğrultusunda önerilerde bulunulmuştur. Anketler yoluyla elde edilen verilerin değerlendirilmesi, SPSS 15.0 programı yardımı ile frekans analizi esas alınarak yapılmıştır. Yanıtlar, frekans ve yüzdesel olarak tablolaştırılarak ve şekillerle betimlenerek, yeterlik değerlendirmesi yapılmıştır.

THE PERCEPTIONS AND OPINIONS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHERS AND INSTRUCTORS ABOUT SUGGESTOPEDIA Studies in the field of Foreign Language Education have gained new dimensions in the last few decades. Models of Foreign Language Teaching underwent improvements and changes. As an advantageous result of the current innovations in communication, contemporary learner-centered and culture-oriented methods replaced traditional and teacher-centered methods. In this study, as one of the most interesting methods proposed to teach a foreign language in a quicker and effective way in the world today, “Suggestopedia” is discussed. This method is also known as “Lozanov Method.”According to Suggestopedia , learners come to class with a number of barriers caused by their logics, feelings and moral values. It is aimed to dissolve students from these barriers with the help of some “certain provided facilities” and “suggestions”. In this method, an important role is attributed to the learning environment and to the teacher as an environment organizer. The teacher represents the authority and reliance. Suggestopedia classes should be decorated with graphics, charts and concept maps; the music, additionally, is the indispensable component. Classical and baroque music, with their spiritual aspects, will help to increase the level of learning. Although there are courses and private language instituts implementig this method, it has not drawn the desired attention in our country yet. Because of this reason, a survey has been applied in order to reveal the proportion and prevalence of suggestopedia among languange teachers and to receive their opinions about this subject. The data has been evaluated according to comtemporary foreign language teaching methods. Suggestions are made in accordance with gathered results. Data gathered through surveys has been evaluated by means of SPSS 15.0 program based on frequency analysis. Proficiency has been evaluated by describing the answers with images and tabulating them according to frequency and percentage.
