A View Agriculture Magazin Publishing Ottoman (1880-1923)


Takvim-i Vekayi which is published in 1931 in the Ottoman Empire is the first example of press. After the Takvim-i Vekayi, sectoral periodicals which pursues a policy of publishing was seen in Ottoman press. Publication for the agricultural industry bodies which is an important economic branch of the Ottoman Empire were observed in the release. The first agricultural magazine Vasıta-i Servet was published in the year 1880. In later years, an increase in the number of agricultural magazines is experienced and many agricultural magazines have been published. In the first part of this study, published in the Ottoman Empire like Vasıta-ı Servet, Ziraat Gazetesi, Ziraat ve Sınaat Tercüme-i Fünun Odaları, Orman ve Maadin ve Ziraat Mecmuası, Umur-ı Nafia ve Ziraat Mecmuası, Osmanlı Terakki-i Ziraat, Resimli Ziraat Gazetesi, Osmanlı Ticaret ve Ziraat Gazetesi, Orman ve Maadin ve Ziraat ve Baytar Nezareti Mecmuası, İkramiyeli Ziraat Gazetesi, Resimli Çiftçi, Ticaret ve Ziraat Nezareti Mecmuası, Felahat, Toprak, Ekinci, Çiftçiler Derneği Mecmuası, Halkalı Ziraat Mekteb-i Alisi Mecmuası, Bağçevan, Ziraat Hayatı, Yeni Ziraat Gazetesi, policies and contents of the publication are described. In the second part of the study, what kinds of issues in the agricultural industry for the magazine have been described which the most important sector of Ottoman Economy is. However, what kind of state policy in agriculture should conduct was examined. This article attempted to identify all agricultural magazines and journals published in the press in the Ottoman Empire and journals published giving short explanations about agricultural policies are described of these magazines.
