Flower book are the Works which provide information about flowers and people who raise flowers. In these Works, we can get information about Otoman flower culture. The love of flower was widespread passion in Otoman life. Flowers were not a commercial thing, but a matter of heart. The people who raise flowers gained reputation for the names of their flowers. One of these flowers is tulip. The tulip is the name of oniony and herbaceous plant. His flowers are on stamp and it can be red, yellow and white. The interest in tulip increase remarkably. As the interest in tulip in İstanbul increased, tulips seeds were brought to that city from different places of the empire and the other countries. Tulips were brought to İstanbul even from the island of Crete. One of those who are keen on flowers is Fenni Mehmed Celebi. According to some sources, Mehmed Fenni died in 1708; according to some other sources he died in 1715. He was buried in Kayalar graveyard in Rumelihisar. One of Mehmed Fenni’s works is a sukufename named Tuhfetu’l-Ihvan. In addition to this work, the poet is a good flower cultivator. The poet started to write this work with İbrahim Hanzade Mehmed Bey’s support and he wrote a book about tulips. In this work, the poet prowides information about some flowers in that terms. The tulip and especially the Crete tulip was so valuable. We can find the names of the people who raised tulip in the book. Some of these are Mehmed Bey, Rüştü Efendi, Habib Bey, Himmet Efendi, Hacı Ahmet, Yıldız Celebi. Besides we can find the names of some tulips in the work. Some of these are bi-manend, semen-sima, müsellem-i âlem, mihr-i münir, la’l-i bedahşan, muluki and nâdir. In this articles, Fenni Mehmed’s work Tuhfetu’l-Ihvan was studied and then the critical text is given.
