Kütüphanelerimizde çeşitli örnekleri bulunan mecmualar, bir veya daha fazla yazar yahut şaire ait çeşitli şekil ve hacimlerdeki nesir ya da şiirlerden oluşan kitaplar şeklinde tanımlanır. Biyografi ise hayat hikâyesi demektir. Divan edebiyatında biyografi denince akla ilk olarak şair tezkireleri gelmektedir. Tezkireler ile mecmualar amaçları bakımından farklılık gösteren eserlerdir. Tezkireler daha çok yazarı, mecmualar ise yazarın eserinden örnekler sunmayı önceler. Bununla birlikte bazı mecmualarda, örnek metinler yanında şairlerin hayatına dair bilgilere de rastlanır. Magazines, which has various samples in libraries, are described as books belonging to one or more authors or poets consisting of various forms or volumes of prose or poems. Biography means life story. When considering biographies in Ottoman literature, the first thing coming to mind is collection of poet biographies. Collection of biographies and magazines are different works in terms of their purpose. While collection of biographies mostly introduce the author, magazines give examples of the author’s works. In addition to that there is information of author’s life in some magazines, beside sample texts. Aim of this study is to assert the story of an Ottoman poet named Swordsman İbrahim Yaver, whose name is never mentioned in collection of biographies of poets and other source of bigraphies, with reference to magazine registered to 06 Mil. Yz. A. 1793 archive number in National Library. Moreover, the aim of this study is to point out that the magazines are important sources in order to write our literature history accurately by giving examples that they introduce biographical information. Swordsman İbrahim Yaver was born in Rumelia in 1115/1703 (?). His was of Albanian origin. His father’s name was General Yusuf. His mother came from a rich family. It is known that he had two children named Rukiye and Zeynel Abidin. His occupation was swordsmanship. Yaver, who spent most of his life in İstanbul, mentiones also the city that he lived in his poems. He tells the beauties, earthquakes, and cold weather of İstanbul in his poems. Apart from İstanbul, he had been in Crimea and Akhaltsikhe, after his father’s death he lived in poverty. Swordsman İbrahim Yaver who followed Mevlevi principles died in 1188/1774 (?).
