Of the authors of Servet-i Fünun, Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil was an artist who produced works in many types such as novel, story, theater, memoir and itinerary. The literary approach of the society which he was affiliated with, the style and the environment which he used in his novels which made him famous led to the occurrence of a thought that along with other followers of Servet-i Fünun, Halit Ziya was also a stranger to the public and social issues. However, a judgment to be made about an artist should not be limited to his works belonging to a certain period. His works should be examined as a whole, his language and understanding changing from one period to another should be determined and a judgment should be reached after obtaining all the data from his works related to society. In this study, we started from the fact that since not any artist mentioned to be a stranger to the public and life can isolate himself more or less from the cultural heritage he owns, the status of Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil in front of social life was evaluated only in terms of the relationship which he had with the folk culture. The material related to the folk culture seen in the author's works was organized under the headings of folk songs, theatrical play, folk beliefs, effects of folk culture on the use of language and rites of passage. The necessity of discussing some thoughts of Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil, who had not remained a stranger to such important elements of our cultural richness as folk medicine, clothing, eating habits, name-giving, domestic order and neighborhood life at all, on folk culture and the richness of folkloric material in his books made it necessary to keep this material only on the level of example and discussion.
