Klasik Türk edebiyatında pend-nâmeler, nasihat-nâmeler, tecrübe ve bilgi aracılığı ile öğüt verme, bilinçlendirme amacı güden manzum, mensur ya da manzum-mensur karışık türlerdir. Tasavvuf hayatı içerisinde de nasihat kavramı önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Pîr-mürîd ilişkisinin önemli bir kısmını oluşturan öğütler, edebiyat vasıtasıyla birtakım tasavvufî yorum ve öğretileri içermektedir. Tasavvuf ekollerinden birine mensup olarak 12 İmama bağlılığını her fırsatta dile getiren ve XIX. yüzyıl başlarına kadar hayatta olan Giritli Aşkî’nin; yaklaşık 8 varaktan oluşan Risâle-i Pend-i Âşıkân adlı eserinde; tasavvuf yoluna girişin şartları, pîre bağlanmanın önemi ve nihâyetinde tasavvufî eğitimin amacı ifade edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Müellif, bu açıklamaları yaparken âyet-hadis ve bazı önemli şahısların sözlerinin yanında, kendi şiirlerinden (nutuklarından) misaller vererek, bazı kısımlarda ilginç denilebilecek söz tasarruflarında bulunarak, manzum-mensur bir anlatım biçimi tercih etmiştir.
There is a unigue genre in Classical Turkish Literature that was called pend-nâme or nasihat-nâme in which the author, out of his own experience and wisdom, aimed to advise and help people to have awereness. These books in etiher prose or verses or in both contain plenty of advice which involves some sufi views and basics: giving advice is an key concept in the relations of the sufi Saint and his disciples in sufi tradition. Aşki was from the island Crete and a person from an sufi tariqah and a devoted follower of the Twelve Imams lived at turn of the 19th century. He is the author of a sixteen-page booklet titled Risâle-i Pend-i Âşıkân. The booklet talks about the preliminary basics to start to follow a sufi path, about why a muslim should follow a sufi Saint, and what sufi practices aim. Aşki supports his advice with verses from the Koran, words of the Prophet and some quotes from the wellknown scholars. In his He also brings examples from his own poetical speechs and prefers in his advice to use prose and verse practising some interesting metaphors.
