An Evaluation Of Lyrical Türkü Classifications In The Context Of Traditional Turkish Folk Music Theory

Türküs (turkish song) containing every topic from human's birth till death and adaptated to cultural texture of belonging geography have came down through mnemonically. According to some reseachers, türküs containing broad topics, are classified different ways from the point of its topics in literature. First, lyrical/topical classifications have been handled in this study. Second, five lyrical/topical türkü classifications were handled and reviewed as a sampling, and evaluations have been made. It has been stated that there are many distinctness between lyrical/topical türkü classifications. Within the scope of this search, some results have been received: Some lyrical/topical türkü classifications could be perceived as a musical genre and this misguided perception could affect improperly the traditional Turkish folk music theory. After getting some results, some suggestions have been submitted related to this topic. By way of this study, some results and submissions were obtained. These are: Türkü classifications must be seperated according to musicality and lyric/topic; musical classifications and lyrical/topical classifications must not be interweaved each other; lyrical/topical türkü classifications must be standardized for building up a better theory of traditional Turkish folk music, a new categorization must be engendered such as türkü with combined topics when different lyrical subjects take part in a türkü.
