Hermeneutik; Yunan mitolojisindeki suni tanrılarla insanlar arasında, insanların tanrıların sözünü doğrudan anlamadıkları için aracılık yaptığına inanılan mitolojik varlık Hermes’e izafeten yorumlama ve anlama sanatına verilmiş bir isimdir. Hermeneutik kelimesi hem pratik olarak iki farklı dünyanın kaynaştırılması anlamına gelir, hem de cümlelerdeki anlamların kelimelerin karşılıkları ile sınırlanmadığı anlamına gelir. Kelimelerin karşılığı, cümlelerin anlamı olur. Eğer kelimelerin karşılıklarının bilinmesi cümlenin anlamına intikal etmek için yeterli olsaydı, bir “anlama” probleminden söz edilemezdi. Ancak cümlenin anlamının kelimelerin ve hatta cümlenin gramatik karşılığından ibaret olmadığının anlaşılması felsefede “yorum ve anlam sorunu” demek olan hermeneutiğin bir disiplin olarak yer almasına neden oldu. Hermeneutik her ne kadar bir felsefe disiplini olsa da, hermeneutik ile elde edilmeye çalışılan “anlamın anlaşılması problemi” her insan zihninin farkında olmaksızın yapmaya çalıştığı bir usulü ifade eder. Felsefe ile ilgili olsun veya olmasın her metinde felsefi problemlerin ipuçları bulunmaktadır. İnsan zihni, kelimelerin ötesine geçmesi kaçınılmaz olan anlamı isabetli olarak yakalayıp yakalayamadığına ilişkin bir soruşturmayı sürekli olarak yapar. Hermeneutik zihnin farkında olmadan yapmaya çalıştığı “anlamı yakalama” problemini bir yönteme veya sanata dönüştürmeye çalışan bir disiplindir. Ancak hermeneutik filozoflarındaki doğru anlamı elde etme ile ilgili görüşleri birer tavsiye niteliğindedir. Kesin bir sonuçtan söz etmek mümkün değildir. Böyle bir amaç da fiilen yoktur. Ancak aynı dil, aynı kültür, aynı din, aynı toplum içinde yaşamış olmak, aynı tarihsel bağlara sahip olmak doğru anlamı elde etme şansını artırmaktadır. Bu açıdan bakıldığında Mehmet Akif gibi bir şairin doğru anlaşılabilme şartlarını bir Avrupalıya göre daha fazla taşıdığımızdan isabet imkânımız daha fazla olduğunu düşünülebilir. Bu makale bir şiirin nasıl değerlendirileceğine ilişkin felsefi bir çalışmadır.

Hermeneutics is a name given to the art of interpretation and understanding in honor of Hermes. Hermes is mythological entity in Greek mythology believed by people as he is the intercessor between people and gods because people do not understand directly the words of God. The Word of God means both integration of two different worlds practically and not restriction of the meanings in sentences with the literal meanings of words. The words have equivalents but the sentences have meanings. If knowing equivalences of the words is enough for understanding the meanings of sentences, the problem of “understanding” cannot be mentioned. However, the understanding of the idea that the meaning of a sentence is not the equivalences of words and the grammatical equivalences of the sentence causes the existence of “interpretation and meaning problem” named as hermeneutics. Even if hermeneutics is a philosophical discipline, “the problem of understanding meaning” refers to a method that is tried to be done unawares by all humans’ mind. There are clues of philosophical problems in all texts without the importance of its relation with philosophy. Human mind always interrogates whether he catches the meaning prophylactically or not. Hermeneutics is a discipline that tries to convert the problem of “catching meaning” that is done by human mind without being aware of it into a method or an art. Nevertheless, the ideas of philosophers in hermeneutics are just recommendations for obtaining the true meaning. It is not possible to mention about a certain result. Such an aim does not already exist actually. However, living in the same society, same religion, same culture and the same language increases the possibility of reaching a true meaning. When it is evaluated by this this perspective, it could be thought that we have more chance to understand Mehmet Akif accurately than a European. This paper is a philosophical study concerning how a poem should be evaluated.
