Gis Based Landslide Susceptibility Analysis Of Iskenderun And Arsuz Districts (Hatay)


Rapid increase of the world population results in uncontrolled growth in settlements. Due to rapid and uncontrolled growth, initial locations of settlements are continuously shifted to riskier areas. Changes are implemented on the primary form of land to both expand settlements and build roads for transportation purposes. These uncontrolled interventions change the events of the natural cycle into disasters one of which is landslides. Landslides, one of the most rapid and effective disasters in terms of process and developmental characteristics, are caused by the downward movement of a part or the whole slope due to gravitational force and in addition to causing deaths and loss of property, they indirectly damage agricultural and forest lands, rivers and industrial zones.
