Tarihsel bir kişiliği belirli ilkeler üzerinden analiz etmek yaşadığı dönemin sosyolojik ve tarihsel dinamiklerini incelemek demektir. Ahmet Hamdi Akseki, büyük hadiselerin meydana geldiği döneme şahit olmuştur. Zira O, çocukluk döneminde Osmanlı saltanatına, gençliğinde Meşrutiyet'e ve kemal yaşında Cumhuriyet'e şahit olmuştur. Akseki bu hadiselere karşı fikirsel ve eylemsel olarak bağımsız kalmayan bir düşünürdür. Dolaysıyla O'nun eylemleri ve eserleri dönemin siyasal-sosyal dokusuyla ele alınmayı zorunlu kılmaktadır. Bu çerçevede en başta din-siyaset kavramları ele alınacak. Daha sonra Ahmet Hamdi Akseki’nin din-siyaset tartışmaları bağlamında ileri sürdüğü fikirleri ve bu fikirlerin oturduğu zemin analiz edilecektir. Son olarak, zihinsel dünyamıza katkıları olan, gündelik hayat-din tartışmalarına örnek olarak da sunulabilecek yazarlığı ve kitapları incelenecektir.
To analyze a historical character within the boundaries of certain principles means examining the sociological and historical conditions of his time. Ahmet Hamdi Akseki witnessed a time when great events have taken place. Because he saw as a child the Ottoman Rule, as a young man Meşrutiyet (Constitutional Monarchy) and as an adult the Republic. Akseki was a thinker who was not a passive observer of these events neither intellectually nor actively. Thus, his works and actions need to be taken into consideration with the political and social air of that era. With this in perspective, first, the concepts of religion and politics will be dealt with. Then, Akseki’s thoughts put forward about the discussions on religio-politics and the background of these ideas will be analyzed. Finally, his authorship and book, both of which have contributed deeply to our intellectual world and can be presented as an interesting example of daily life and religion discussions, will be examined.
