Investigation of Ecological Foot Print Levels of Classrom Teacher Candidates


The aim of this study was to investigate ecological foot print levels of classroom teacher candidates. The research was carried out relational survey model. The variables of this research are sex, parental income and education level, the location of the place of residence for a long time and Environmental Education course. The data were collected Ecological Footprint Awareness Scale which was developed by the authors. The data were evaluated by using SPSS 19.0 statistical program on computer. The research was completed in two stages including the pre and actual application. The pre-application was conducted with a total of 283 students which were the first- and fourth grade of Gazi University, Education Faculty, Primary School Teaching Programme and third grade of Science and Technology Programme in the academic year of 2012-2013. The actual application was carried out a total of 372 second - and third -year students enrolled to Gazi University Education Faculty, Primary School Teaching Programme in the academic year of 2012-2013. As a result of this research “Ecological Footprint Awareness Scale” was developed. The research findings, classroom teachers' awareness of ecological footprint and grade level, parental educational status, environmental education course to take-deny variables did not differ significantly. According to the place of residence for a long time, food, transportation, housing, and energy sub-observed, a significant difference, waste and water consumption, significant differences were sub-dimension. From the energy level of awareness of gender-based ecological footprint, waste and water consumption was observed, no significant difference in favor of women in sub-dimensions, food, transportation, observed a significant difference in the bottom-dwelling.
