Milletleri var eden değerlerin gelecek nesillere öğretilmesi ve bu değerlerin nesiller tarafından doğru biçimde anlaşılması büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Bu değerlerin aktarımında okullarda eğitim-öğretim sürecinde kullanılan metinlerin önemi yadsınamaz. Hiç kuşku yok ki Türk milletine ait değerlerin öğretiminde kullanılabilecek metinlerin başında Gençliğe Hitabe gelmektedir. Metnin anlaşılmasında metindeki kelimelerin metin içindeki anlamlarının öğrenciler tarafından ne oranda bilindiği önemlidir. Bu çalışmada geleceğin birer öğretmen adayı olan Öğretmen Lisesi ve Eğitim Fakültesi öğrencilerinin Gençliğe Hitabe’yi anlama düzeylerinin hangi seviyede olduğu belirlenmiş ve elde edilen sonuçlardan hareketle öğretmenlere tavsiyelerde bulunulmuştur. Çalışma Gençliğe Hitabe’de geçen bazı kelimelerin yer aldığı açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan bir başarı testinin uygulandığı betimsel bir çalışmadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu Siirt Anadolu Öğretmen Lisesinde öğrenim gören 119 öğrenci ve Siirt Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Türkçe Öğretmenliği Bölümünde öğrenim gören 110 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın sonucunda kelimelerin % 49,50’sinin üniversite öğrencileri, %24,83’ünün lise öğrencileri tarafından bilindiği tespit edilmiştir. Özellikle bazı kelimelerin bilinme oranları düşük seviyelerde kalmıştır. Örneğin, “müstevli” kelimesi üniversite öğrencilerinin %5,54’ü tarafından bilinirken lise öğrencilerinin %100’ü tarafından bilinmemiştir. Cebren kelimesi üniversite öğrencilerinin %55,45’i tarafından bilinirken lise öğrencilerinin %0,84’ü tarafından bilinmiştir.

Theaching the values of nations to future generations and being understood comprehendly by them is very important. The importance of the transferring these values of the texts used in schools can not be refused.. It is clear that in teaching the values of Turkish nation,"Mustafa Kemal's Adressing To Turkish Youth" is in the first place. In understanding the text, it is important to know that in which rate The students know the contextual meaning of the words. In this research, the level of the intelligibility of "Mustafa Kemal's Adressing To Turkish Youth" for the students who are the candidates of High School of Teacher and Education Faculty is determined and some advices are given according to the results. It is a descriptive study that consisting of some words located in "Mustafa Kemal's Adressing To Turkish Youth" and a success test consisting of open-ended questions.The group of the research consists 119 students from Siirt Anatolian Teacher High School and 110 students from Turkish Teaching Department of Siirt University –Education Faculty. It is identified that university students know % 49,50 of the words and the high school students know %24,83 of them.Also, It is observed that the rate of knowing some words is lower than expected . For example , While the meaning of the word “ müstevli “ is known by % 5,54 of the university students , %100 of the high school students don’t know it. And while the meaning of the word “ cebren” is known by %55,45 of the university students , İt is known by just % 0,84 of the high school students .
