The construction of the palace finished and it was in use during the reign of his son Sultan Mehmed the IInd. The palace was enlarged various times and it was used until the renovation realised in 1828 which coincided with the reign of Sultan Mahmud the IInd. The same year the palace was pillaged by Russians who entered Edirne. This article focuses on the monthly maintenance works carried out in the Edirne Palace in the reign of Mustafa II. Built by Murad II, there have been many restorations and renovations on a grandiose scale undertaken in this palace in centuries. Our intention is not to analyse the changes in architecture of the palace throughout history, but rather to review the monthly repairs and particular renovations in this time period by reference to a series of registers kept at the Ottoman Archives, Istanbul. This study reveals the costs and sites of the maintenance works as well as the types of construction materials and professions employed at the undertaking. The registers utilized in this study include data about the repairs done in the Harem section. Most of the maintenance focused on the interiors of Harem chambers and the sewage. Nevertheless, they also provide precious information on the goods and services required by the daily consumption of the Harem populace. Finally, this article suggests that monthly renovations exhibit a similar pattern in terms of the costs involved. While the Edirne Palace was maintained regularly by routine repairs on a monthly basis, no ambitious renovation was attempted},author={Murat KOCAASLAN-- H.
