The Birds Names In The Old Turkish


In this study, we tried to make the assembly by taking the old bird names in Turkish. This study is limited to bird names which were written in some works between AD 8’th to end of the 11’Th century. In this study, we tried to give the bird names etymology which were detected from old Turkish used between AD 8’th to 11’th century and the progression of the bird names in historical dialects was shown. Orkhon inscriptions, Yenisei inscriptions, Steppe Uighur Khanate manuscripts are regarded as milestones in Turkish language and in general old Uighur manuscripts in which Buddhism and Manihaism were committed, and also Divanü Lügat-it Türk, Kutadgu Bilig, Atabetü’l Hakayık are the relics remaining to us from Karahan State, and Turkish translation of Quran are very important works not only in terms of language but also in terms of understanding Turkish culture. Researchers has identified many elements that may be collected under the names of Turkish culture such as the construction of state apparatus, the military organizational structure, mores and traditions, their geography, their tools, clothes, food and beverages, religious belief, pets and wild animals that exist in their life besides the works of that time lived in Turkish language. In this way, the life of the past Turks was clarified. Thus, especially Divanü Lügat-it Türk, many works have been pointed out above in order have been investigated and will continue to be examined as well.
