Araştırmanın amacı ortaokul öğrencilerinin cümle vurgusuyla değişen anlamı belirleme başarıları ile cümlede istenen anlamı vurgu ile belirtebilme becerileri arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yaklaşımlarından durum çalışması yöntemi kullanılmıştır. 40 ortaokul 7. sınıf öğrencisine vurgusuyla birlikte anlamı değişen iki farklı cümle verilmiştir. Öğrencilerden, verilen anlama uygun vurgulama ile cümleleri seslendirmeleri istenmiş ve sesleri kaydedilmiştir. Daha sonraki haftada aynı cümlelerin uzman tarafından seslendirilmiş ses kayıtları dinletilmiş, aynı anda test formunda hazırlanan ölçme aracıyla dinledikleri her bir cümle için vurguyla değişen anlamın olduğu seçeneği işaretlemeleri istenmiştir. Bu çalışmada gürültü kesme özelliğine sahip, ses kayıt cihazı kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin ses kayıtları Praat ses analiz programı ile çözümlenmiş ve cümle vurguları belirlenmiştir. Uzman tarafından yapılan ve doğruluğu Praat programıyla sınanan seslendirmelerde öğrencilerin tespit ettikleri anlamların uzmanın vurguyla ifade ettiği anlama göre ne oranda doğru olduğu testteki sorulara verdikleri cevapların analiz edilmesiyle belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin ilişkisel değerlendirmeleri yapılmış ve cümlede vurguyla değişen anlamı belirleme başarısı ile istenen anlamı vurguyla belirtme becerisi arasında pozitif yönde güçlü bir ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin cümle vurgusuyla değişen anlamı belirleme başarıları arttıkça cümlede istenen anlamı vurgu ile belirtme becerileri de artmaktadır. Bu sonuç ise öğrencilere cümle vurgusu becerisinin kazandırılmasında öncelikle dinleme temelli bir eğitimin verilmesi gereğini ortaya koymaktadır. Çünkü beceriler taklit yoluyla öğrenilmekte, uygulamalarla geliştirilmektedir

The aim of this research is to put out the secondary school students’ achievements on the correlation between the expression skill of the meaning with emphasis which is mentioned in a sentence and the success of comprehension of the meaning of a sentence which can change with emphasis.In this research, it was used the method of circumstance study from the qualitative research approaches.Two different sentences in which their meanings can change with different emphasis were given to 40 students for 7th grade in a secondary school.The students were asked for reading the sentences according to their meanings with the correct emphasis and their voices were recorded.The next week , they were listened to the audio recordings of the same sentences which had been read by an expert and at the same time while listening to each sentence which change their meanings with emphasis, they were asked for choosing the option on the test which was preapered in the form of measuring tool .In this study ,sound recording equipment which has a feature of noise cutting was used.With the help of the Praat Sound Analysis Programme ,the voice recordings of the students were analyzed and determined emphasis of the sentence.In the voice recordings which were done by expert and in which their accuracy were tested with the Praat programme ,how many of the meanings which were chosen by the students according to the meaning in which the expert expressed with emphasis were correct or not was determined by analyzing the answers of the questions on the test.The relational evaluations for data which was obtained were done and was found a mid-level positive correlation between the success of comprehension of the meaning of a sentence which can change with emphasis and expression skill of the desired meaning with emphasisStudent’s ability to specify intented meaning with the help of emphasis on sentence increases as their success of determining the meaning, which changes with the emphasis increases. This outcome shows the necessity of giving the students a listening based education to make them acquire the ability of emphasis on sentence. Because the skills are learnt by imitation and developed by practice.
