A literary work, contains many valuable connections between itself and its author. The life style of a literary work’s creator is much more important. Because it is possible to see the reflection of author’s life on its work. With this cause the autobiographical method is really important. This method should be kept at the forefront for poetry analyzing. With this method, the effect of poet’s life and the age of the literary work which has written in, to the work can be uncovered. The historical events of poet’s age which it had lived in, is important as much as poet’s life. All these situations should be known because the work may be effected by the events of its author’s life either its loves or its environment. It is important to know poet’s educational level and the environment which it had grown in. With this cause autobiographical method has a remarkable property. This method can be used for Divan Poetry by considering the history of the work and its sociological properties. This analyzed Gazel is one of the most important works of the most important poet of the eighteenth century, Nedim. And this Gazel is written in a turning point age of the Ottoman Empire which known as ‘’Tulip Period’’ (Lale Devri). The Gazel which reflects us too many characteristics of that period is gives us great hints about its author Nedim’s life style and his outlook on life. In this work, Tulip Period (Lale Devri) which is Divan Poetry’s one of the most attractive ages, and one of the poems of a poet Nedim, who lived during that period will be analyzed by autobiographical method. And the information about its age and author will be given.
