Essay on the Foreign Policy of Iran in the era of the Pahlavi II


Since the early 1970s, Iran has been regarded as an vital key player in the Middle East, Iran had conducted to accumulate significant strategic value during the Cold War. Iran under Pahlavi Dynasty, due to the struggle among rival foreign forces, was transformed into a significant regional power in the twentieth century by his pro-western policy in particular USA. In the 1950s superpower rivalry, restricting the ability of the great powers to use military force in the region, cleared field for Nasser’s attempt to use Pan-Arab ideology to gather the Arab states, though against Western intrusion. During this period, Shah has endeavor to consolidate strenght of monarchy by exerting the power struggle in the Middle East between the West and East Blocks in his favor. The vital necessity for the West to Iran, in particular American administration, caused to prepare ground a more authoritarian government in Iran. In this article, I do try to evaluate Iran’s foreign policy in a certain time period the Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi. Our gravity point will be politics of Iran between Great Powers in that period. In this context, Whilst analyzing this policy, I do try to merge; core of foreign policy and political history. Essay is assorted due to the chronology. Research period is accedence of Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi to the throne till to the flee from Iran.
