Bu çalışmada Âşık Veysel’in müziksel yeteneği üzerinde bir takım değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur. Çalışmanın amacı, görme engelli müzisyenlerin müzik yeteneklerinin görme engeli olmayanlara göre ne gibi avantajları veya dezavantajları olabileceğini tartışmak ve Âşık Veysel’in müziksel yeteneğinin çevresel etmenlerle ne ölçüde ilişkili olduğunu belirlemektir. Araştırmada, “Hipotetik Dedüktif Metot“ – “Hypothethic Deductive Method“ (Kuş, 2003), olarak bilinen ve “Hipoteze Dayalı Akıl Yürütme“ anlamına gelen araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu yöntem çoğunlukla Sosyal Bilimler ile ilgili araştırmalarda kullanılan bir yöntemdir. Bu çalışma, müziksel yeteneğin görme duyusuyla ne ölçüde ilişkili olduğunu ortaya çıkaracak olması bakımından önemlidir. Araştırma, hayatta olmayan bir kimse üzerinde de yetenek ölçümü yapılabileceğini göstermesi açısından önem taşımakta olup, bu sayede ileride yapılacak benzer çalışmalara örnek teşkil edecek bir niteliğe de sahiptir. Araştırmanın problem durumunu, Âşık Veysel’in görme engelli olması, onun müzisyen olmasında etkili olmuş mudur, yeteneğinin çevresel etmenlerle ilişkisi var mıdır ve O’nun müziksel yeteneği doğuştan mı, yoksa sonradan mı edinilmişdir soruları oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmayla ilgili literatür taraması yapılmış ve konuyla ilişkilendirilebilecek yayınlar ayrıntılı olarak incelenmiştir. Bu yayınlar arasında yer alan “The Power of Music“ ve “Nurtured by Love“ adlı kitaplar, araştırmada kullanılan yönteme en uygun kaynaklar olarak tespit edilmiş ve ağırlıklı olarak bu kitaplardaki hipotezlerden ve sonuçlandırılmış olan deneysel çalışmalardan yararlanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak Âşık Veysel’in üstün bir müziksel yeteneğe sahip olduğu, bu yeteneğinin çevresel etmenlerle ilişkili olduğu, görme engelli olmasının yeteneğine önemli katkı sağladığı ve müziksel yeteneğin en önemli göstergelerinden olan ezgisel hafızanın Veysel’de üst düzeyde var olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar ayrıntılı olarak değerlendirilmiş ve tartışılmıştır.

In this study,a number of physical assessments were made on the musical ability of Aşık Veysel. The purpose of this study is to discuss what might be the advantages or disadvantages of musical ability of visually impaired musicians compared to those without visial impairment and to determine to what extent the musical talent of Asık Veysel is associated with environmental factors. The research method known as “Hypothetic Deductive Method“ (Kuş,2003), which means “Hypothesis-Based Reasoning“ was used in ths study. This is one of the methods often used in social science researches. This study is important in that to reveal to what extent the musical talent is associated with eyesight. The research is crucial in terms to show that the similar ability measurement can be done on a dead person as well and it has got an exemplary quality for similar studies in the future. The status of the research problem consists of questions; Was his condition of being visually impaired influential on Veysel to become a musician? Was his musical talent associated with environmental factors? Was his musical ability innate or subsequently acquired? The literature scanning was made and the publications asssociated with the topic were studied in details. Among these publications “The power of music“ and “Nurtured by love“ books have been identified as the most appropriate resources for this recearch and hypotheses and experimental studies that concluded these books have mainly been used. As a result of this study it has been identified that Aşık Veysel had a superior musical ability which was associated with environmental factors and his being visually impaired contributed to his talent, Veysel had a high level of melodious memory which was the most indicators of his musical talent.
