The Reappearing Soul Of The Folklore Embedded Into Poetry: Poet Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu

Turks, who are the oldest people in the world, the most roving, have expended to the widest geography, opened and closed the two of the ages in the history, mingling into many other nations, sometimes fighting and sometimes making peace, all in all contacting many cultures, adopting various religions particularly the devine ones, but maintaining their language, have a very complex, multi-dimensional, colorful, excessively deep and accumulating folkloric cultures and history dating back to ancient times. Our folkloric products including a long list of sagas, proverbs, idioms songs, ballads, legends, jokes, riddles, tongue twisters, folk arts and beliefs which have accrued in our heritage since the ancients times when the first sayings resounded from the skirts of God mountain to the endless skies and vast deserts and whispered to the ears, have been both consumed and reproduced endlessly as a unique source of inspiration by our new and near age poets and writers with national romantic sense. At the top of the list of poets who transferred the folklore to poetry is definitely Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu. The poet, who is an artist at the same time, uses the folkloric elements literally eagerly and ecstatically within the context of selecting title, topic, and character; using time and space, fiction; making use of sayings (forms), folk poems and ballads, proverbs and idioms; leaning to Dede Korkut and tale style, getting inspired by rules and rituals, exemplifying ethnography, folk cuisine, folk picture, embroidery, patterns, and beliefs. After explaining the literary personality of the poets based on the anthologies, under the light of results and selected examples obtained through scanning all his poems and, how adapted folklore elements into himself and his poetry will be discussed and analyzed as far as the boundaries of this article allow.
