Body Language In Kutadgu Bilig


Monuments, which were able to come to present day from the past in historical process, lights many parts of their periods. Orhun Inscriptions, Divan-ı Lugati't-Türk, Dede Korkut Stories, Atabetü'l-Hakayık, Nehcü’l Feradis are the most important monuments of the Turkish Language and Literature. One of these monuments is Kutadgu Bilig written by Yusuf Has Hacip at 11. century. Kutadgu Bilig is a written work reflects of the transition period in point of social life and belief system. Body language is one of the important factors of communication. A communication will be incomplete if body language wasn’t able to be resolved. With with verbal communication, non-verbal communication named as body language should be taken into account for establishing literal communication. Expressions about body language often appear in both dialogues among heroes and said the wise words in the Kutadgu Bilig . In terms of body language, like ‘head and face statements’, ‘hand-arm movements and behaviors’, ‘eye and point of view’, ‘clothing and appearance’, ‘positive action and pretty face’, ‘dining and table manners’ terse phrases gets involved in written work. These terse phrases attract attention of body language and sometimes express that body language will mislead people. Body language, which should be taken into account of cultural dimension, come across in oldest monuments of Turkish Language and Literature is important to show Turk’s expression power. It is seen that success in verbal communication of Turkish also effect non-verbal communication.
