Mani is not only a spesific genre of poetry in the Turkish folk poem tradition, but also is the smallest part of the national poetry forms. Mani is the most common folk poem used nearly in every geographical region where Turkish is spoken. It keeps its existence in various Turkish dialects and accents in different names. Because of that commonness, manis are one of the rare genres that formed its original performing tradition. Although mani is sing with quatrain, verse unit in the folk literature, it is indicate that a feature which is different from other forms of verse which sing with quatrain. It has not been clarified how the historical development of mani or ever how the matter was occured until today. It is also an important issue, which people doing research on mani emphasized, is the problem of “unrelated verses”. This definition is depend on the opinion which first two verses are sing in preparation for the last two verses which is given the main feelings and thoughts. However, there is no consensus about the issue of unrelated verses among researchers. The first studies on this subject, the first two verses of mani was named as “unrelated verses” and the opinion of these were disconnected the last two verses in terms of meaning was came into prominence. However, the influence of the research-based context, mani, in recent studies, is evaluated as a whole and it has been suggested that verses, called as “unrelated verses”, fufill some of the functions in fact. In this study, it is discussed that elements which provides of the semantic links between first two verses and last two verses in mani and they are classified.
