An Archaic use of the Word “Keri (Geri)” in Turkey Turkish Accents


Many archaic elements that aren’t present in standard language are known to live in dialects. Archaism appears not only in suffix and word form which are visible parts of language but also appears in meaning and role. Therefore, many words used in standard Turkey Turkish can appear in Anatolian accents with meanings and roles of archaic. One of the words which keep this archaic role and meaning in Anatolian accents is “Keri (Geri)”. The word “keri” in Anatolian accents comes after nouns wiht dative case and participles as it is in Old Anatolian Turkish and has gained the role of inflectional preposition with the meaning of “-dan sonra”. This subject will be focused on in this study.
