On yedinci yüzyılın en buhranlı dönemlerinde Osmanlı Devleti’nin gerilemesini aldıkları sert tedbirler ve yerinde kararlarla durdurmayı başarmış bir vezir ailesi olan Köprülüler, Köprülü Mehmed Paşa’nın vezirliğe gelişinin ardından Osmanlı devlet teşkilatının içinde sadece sadrazam olarak değil, komutan, sadaret kaymakamı ve kaptan-ı derya olarak da uzun yıllar yerlerini almışlardır. Bu sülaleden iki kişi, ardı ardına sadrazamlık makamında bulunmuş, baba-oğul Köprülü Mehmed Paşa ve Fâzıl Ahmed Paşa, hem devlet işlerinde hem de sanat ve edebiyat çevrelerinde etkili olmuş sadrazamlardır. Köprülü Mehmed Paşa’nın şairlere ilgisi sınırlı olmakla birlikte babasının aksine Fâzıl Ahmed Paşa, şairlerin koruyucusu görevini üstlenmiş üstelik bu şairlerin kaside, tarih manzumesi ve müzeyyel gazellerine daha fazla konu olmuştur. Makalede sözü geçen bu iki paşanın, “Şuarâ Tezkireleri”nden tespit edilebildiği kadarıyla şairlerle ilgili münasebetleri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu şairler hakkında kısa bilgiler vermenin yanı sıra Fâzıl Ahmed Paşa’ya yazdıkları manzumeleri de incelenmiştir.
