The incident of Karbala is one of the important events of Islam history. This incident affected the whole muslims deeply. Hazrat Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed and son of Hazrat Ali, and his family’s being martyrs has also been a subject to the literature. Many poets in Turkish literature especially in Alevi-Bektashi poem tradition focused on Karbala incidents in their works. Many works have been written on this topic in the form of verse and prose. Dirges are some of these works. Dirge is a kind of poem in which regret is expressed after the death of a person. One of the poets who expressed his regret with this kind of poem is a Bektashi Father, Kadimi Baba. His real name is Ali Riza Oge. Kadimi gave place to 39 Karbala Dirges of his own in his work Bektashi Poets Anthology. He revived the incident of Karbala remarkably in front of our eyes in these dirges. Within this context, he used an impressive language for his love and despair to Hazrat Hussein who was killed by the army of Yazid. The curse to Yazid and his army which we face in Karbala dirges generally is also faced in the poems of Kadimi. In this study, we will examine the Karbala Dirges of Kadimi after giving a brief information about him.
