Hilmi Yavuz’un Doğu Şiirleri ilk baskısını 1977 yılında yapılmıştır. Genel olarak Doğu’yu merkeze alan şiirlerde Doğu ve insan geleneksel yaşamın izleri sürülerek şiire konu edilir. Bu şiirlerin temel özelliği Doğu’yu dışarıdan gözlemleyen bir şairin değil Doğu’da yaşayan bir insan gözüyle aktarılır. Doğu Şiirlerinde, doğu insanın çaresizliği, yoksulluğu, hüznü, sevgisi gelenek ve coğrafyanın çizdiği kaderle birleşerek imgeleşir. Özellikle sözün anlam yönünden daha derin olması şiirlerde imgesel açılımı kuvvetlendirir.
Hilmi Yavuz’s Western Poems was first published in 1977. Generally, centred upon the West, the poems deal with the West and humans through depiction of traditional ways of life. The basic features of these poems are the conveyance of feelings and depictions through a perspective from within the society instead of an outside eye. In the Western Poems, human’s helplessness, sorrow, poverty, and love turn into poetic images shaped through traditions and geographical elements. The deeper semantic nature of the words makes poetic imagery expansion more possible.
