XVI. yüzyılda yaşamış olan Pârepârezâde Ahmed Çelebi aslen Bursalı’dır. İyi bir eğitim gördükten sonra müderrislik ve kadılık görevlerinde bulunmuştur. Şair kadılık görevinin çoğunu Rumeli’de yapmış, yine bu topraklarda vefat etmiştir. Mezarı, günümüzde Yunanistan sınırları içinde bulunan Tırhala’da Turhan Beyoğlu Ömer Bey Camii’nin bahçesindedir. Şair, beklediği bir terfinin ya da maaş zammının gerçekleşmemesi sonucunda yirmi dört beyitlik bir mesnevi kaleme almıştır. Bu mesnevide, hayal kırıklığını, kırgınlığını, sade bir Türkçe ve samimi bir üslupla dile getirmiştir. Meslek hayatının nerdeyse tamamını Rumeli topraklarında geçiren Pârepârezâde Ahmed Çelebi, eserinde sadece şahsî duygularını aktarmamış, gezip gördüğü, görev yaptığı Rumeli şehirleri hakkında, gözlem ve tecrübelerini de yansıtmıştır. Metin, şimdi sınırlarımızda bulunmayan pek çok Rumeli şehriyle ilgili tarihi ve kültürel açıdan verdiği önemli bilgiler içermektedir.
Pârepârezâde Ahmed Çelebi, who lived in the 16th century, is originally from Bursa. After getting a good education, he worked as a lecturer and judge. The poet served most of his career as a judge in Rumelia, and also died in this region. His tomb is in the garden of Turhan Bey’s son Ömer Bey Mosque, in Tırhala, which is in the borders of Greece today. When Pârepârezâde couldn’t get an expected promotion or pay rise, he wrote a masnavi with 24 verses. In this masnavi, he depicted his disappointment and offense with a simple Turkish and intimate tone. In this text, Pârepârezâde Ahmed Çelebi, who served nearly his entire career in Rumelia, not only narrated his personal feelings but he also shared his experiences and observations. The text includes a lot of historical and cultural information about many cities in Rumelia which are not in our borders anymore today. In this work, the verses in the text are analyzed in a literary sense and the cities of Rumelia which are mentioned in the verses are discussed in terms of their culture, with references to many sources, particularly Evliyâ Çelebi’s The Book of Travels.
