Özet: Ahmet Midhat Efendi, farklı bir medeniyet dairesine girişin öncesinde eskiden kopamayan, fakat yeniden de yüz çeviremeyen Tanzimat dönemi aydınlarının önde gelenlerindendir. Döneminde birçok edebî ve kültürel hadisenin yanında düşünce akımlarına da ilgi duyan Ahmet Midhat, Üss-i İnkılâp adlı kitabının “Mukaddime-i Ulâ” adlı giriş bölümünde Osmanlıcılık düşüncesinin II. Abdülhamit’in onayından geçmiş beyannamesini yapar. Dolayısıyla bu yönüyle Üss-i İnkılâp, Türk düşünce tarihi ve özellikle Osmanlıcılık ideolojisi bağlamında dönemin en önemli kaynak eserlerindendir.
Abstract: Ahmet Midhat Efendi is one of the most prominent intellectuals of Tanzimat Period who could not only cut his connection to the past but also could not avert his face from the new just before the entrance to the circle of a different civilisation. In addition to the lots of contemporary literary and cultural events, Ahmet Midhat sympathized trends of thought. In his book called Üss-i İnkılâp Ahmet Midhat wrote an introduction named as “Mukaddime-i Ulâ” and declared a proclamation about the thought of Ottomanism which had passed from the approval of Abdulhamit II. Therefore the book Üss-i İnkılâp is one of the most important sources of that period in the context of history of Turkish thought and ideology of Ottomanism.
