İnsanları güldüren, neşelendiren hoş söz ve güzel söz; özellikle şaka, espri anlamına gelen latife/letâif, kavram olarak sözle ifade edilmesi güç, ince mana, kalbe doğan duygu; güldürecek tuhaf söz ve hikâye demektir. Latife kelimesinden türetilen letâif-nâme ise kendi içinde birçok ayrı metinden (hikâye, masal, fıkra ve nükte gibi) oluşabildiği gibi, müstakil bir metin, belli bir olay örgüsünden oluşan uzun soluklu hikâye hâlinde de kaleme alınmış olabilmektedir. Bu yazıya konu olan ve yazarı bilinmeyen Letâif-nâme adlı hikâye, ikinci tip metinlere örnektir ve bir çerçeve içinde birbirinden farklı on bir hikâye/masal/fıkrayı içeren bir eser olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Eser, H.1268/M.1851-52 yılında İstanbul’da basılmıştır. 153 sayfadan oluşan eserde XVII. yüzyılda Sultan IV. Murad devrinde Yusuf Şah adlı kahramanın başından geçen olaylar anlatılmaktadır. Letâif-nâme adlı eser eksenli bu yazıda klasik hikâye/roman incelemesi çerçevesinde, eserin adı, konusu, özeti, olay örgüsü, şahıs kadrosu, mekân, zaman, anlatıcı ve bakış açısı ile dil ve üslup özellikleri gibi konular üzerinde durulacaktır.
Latife/letâif, meaning pleasant and nice statement humouring and cheering people, especially joking and humor, is conceptually an elusive and delicate meaning, a feeling coming to heart, or an amusing and weird statement and story. And letâif-nâme, derived from the word latife, can be composed of many different texts within itself (e.g. story, tale, joke and epigram), and can be written as a long-running story consisting of a separate text and a certain plot. The story Letâif-nâme, which is the subject of this paper and the author of which is not known, is an example of the latter kind of texts, and stands out as a work including eleven distinct stories / tales / jokes within a framework. This work was published in H.1268/ A.D.1851-52 in İstanbul. The work, comprising 153 pages, tells about the experiences of a hero called Yousuf Shah in the 17th century during the reign of Sultan Murad the fourth. This paper, focusing on the work Letâif-nâme, deals with the title, theme, summary, plot, characters, setting, time, narrator and the point of view of the work, and its linguistic and style characteristics within the framework of the story / novel analysis.
