Bu çalışma ile hikâye yazarı Salim Şengil tarafından 1945-Temmuz 1957 tarihleri arasında birinci seride 47, ikinci/yeni seride 66 olmak üzere toplam 113 sayı neşredilen, başlangıçta yalnız hikâye türüne yer verse de yayımlandığı dönemin değişen sanat anlayışına duyarsız kalamayarak hikâyenin yanında diğer türlere de sayfalarını açan, özellikle toplumcu gerçekçi sanat anlayışını benimseyen 1950 kuşağı hikâyecilerinin kendilerini ifade edebilmelerine ve İkinci Yeni şiirinin gelişmesine imkân sağlayan Seçilmiş Hikâyeler dergisini tanıtıp sistematik indeksini hazırlayarak edebiyat tarihi araştırmalarına katkıda bulunmayı amaçladık.
