Bu çalışmanın amacı sınıf öğretmenlerinin karşılaştıkları istenmeyen öğrenci davranışları ve bu davranışlara karşı uyguladıkları çözüm yollarını tespit etmektir. Araştırmanın çalışma evrenini 2010-2011 yılı eğitim-öğretim güz döneminde Elazığ İli Merkez İlköğretim okullarında görev yapan sınıf öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi çalışma evreni içerisinden tesadüfî olarak belirlenen ve yüz yüze görüşülen 60 sınıf öğretmeni üzerinden yürütülmüştür. Yüz yüze görüşülen öğretmenlerden 38 öğretmenin cevapladığı görüşme formlarındaki yazılı veriler “Nvivo 7” nitel veri analizi programında değerlendirilmiştir. Öğretmenlerin sıklıkla karşılaştıkları istenmeyen öğrenci davranışları arasında; “derse ilgisiz olma”, “ kopya çekme”, “fiziksel ve sözlü şiddet”, “ öğretmene karşı saygısızlık”, “ sorumluluk üstlenmeme”, “ dersin düzenini bozma” ve “gruplaşma” yer almaktadır. Öğretmenlerin istenmeyen davranışlara karşı başvurdukları çözüm yolları arasında ise; “rehberlik-danışmanlık yapma”, “yüzleştirme”, “sorumluluk kazandırma”, “cezalandırma”, “ödüllendirme” ve “sosyal destek sağlama” gibi kısa ve uzun vadeli çözüm önerileri yer almaktadır.
The aim of this research is to determine the undesirable student behaviors faced by the classroom teachers and the solutions they apply to these behaviors. The population of the research comprises of the class teachers who worked in the Elazığ Province Central Elementary Schools during the 2010-2011 fall semester. The sample of the research was carried out on the 60 class teachers who were selected randomly among the population and who were interviewed face to face. The data written in the interview forms which were answered by the 38 teachers among the teachers who were interviewed face to face was evaluated with the “Nvivo 7” qualitative data analysis program. “Being irrelevant to the course”, “cheating”, “physical or verbal violence”, “being disrespectful to the teacher”, refusing responsibility”, “disturbing the order in the class” and “grouping” are among the undesirable student behaviors frequently faced by the teachers. The short or long run solution suggestions such as “guidance-counseling”, “confrontation”, “responsibility training”, “punishing”, “rewarding” and “providing social support” are among the solutions to which the teachers appeal against the undesirable behaviors.
