Çağatay Türkçesine ait eserler, Çağataycayı ayrı bir yazı dili hâline getiren bütün özellikleri taşıması dışında Oğuz ve Kıpçak unsurlarını ve Eski Türkçenin ses ve şekil husûsiyetlerini de bünyesinde taşır. Özellikle Eski Türkçenin yakın bir takipçisi olan Çağatay Türkçesi eserlerinde Köktürk ve Uygur dönemine ait bazı dil unsurları Çağataycanın karakteristik bir özelliği hâline gelirken bir kısmı da arkaik bir yapı özelliği gösterir. Bu çalışmada, Çağatay Türkçesi eserlerinde, Eski Türkçenin dil özellikleri tespit edilmeye ve dönemin söz varlığı aynı doğrultuda incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. “Eski Türkçe” ifadesiyle kastedilen Köktürk ve Uygur Türkçesidir.
The works of Chagatai Turkish not only contains all features turning out Chagatai Turkish into a literary language but also it includes Oğuz and Kıpçak Turkish elements and Old Turkish phonetic and structural characteristics. While some language features of Uighur and Köktürk period become a characteristic feature of Chagatai Turkish, some of these features indicate a structural feature of archaic especially in the works of Chagatai Turkish, a close follower of Old Turkish. In this study, the language features of Old Turkish have been determined in the works of Chagatai Turkish and the presence of word power of the time has been tried to be examined in the same direction. The statement "Old Turkish" refers to the Uighur and Köktürk Turkish.
