The Yenisei Inscriptions, the number of which is over 200, have not received enough attention from researchers except for those studying on the Turkish language due to the fact that they have limited amount of lines and were written irregularly. One of the most important reasons of this is that all of the inscriptions are dateless and that they contain some cliché phrases and sentences which are similar to aphorisms of today’s epitaphs. However, still it is possible to elicit some information from multi–lined inscriptions such as de Elegest I (E 10), Açura (E 26), Altın–Köl I (E 28), Altın–Köl II (E 29), Köjeelig–Hovu (E 45), Abakan (E 48). In this article, data on Turkic tribes have been compiled from some 160 inscriptions, whose texts are on hand, and we have aimed to supply new information on what is already known about these tribes. After presenting texts where identified tribes are mentioned, they will be translated into the modern Turkish, and then each tribe will be evaluated in regard to the Yenisei inscriptions and to the Yenisei catchment basin.
