Yerleşmelerin nüfus ve yapısı sürekli değişim halindedir. Nüfusu geçen yıllar içerisinde azalma eğilimi gösteren ilçelerden birisi de Ovacık’tır. Çalışmanın amacı Ovacık’ın ilçe olduğu 1959’dan günümüze ilçenin nüfus yapısını ortaya koymak ve ilçede yaşanan nüfus azalmasına dikkat çekmektir. Çalışma için Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu verilerinden yararlanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda Ovacık’ta nüfusun hızla azaldığı, nüfus azalmasında çeşitli sosyo-ekonomik faktörlerin etkili olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
The population and structure of settlements are continuously changing. One of the districts that population tends to decrease over the years is Ovacık. The aim of this study is to reveal the structure of population of the district since 1959 the year it turned to be a district and to attract attention to the decrease in the population of the district. In the study, the Statistical Institute of Turkey (TUIK) statistics have been used. Result of the study has been revealed that Ovacık population is rapidly decreasing. As the result of the study it was determined that some socio-economical conditions are influential in the rapid decrease of the population, intersection of the county, inadequate investments and employment studies.
