Two Opposite Concepts in Sait Faik Abasıyanık’s World: Laziness and Diligence

Sait Faik Abasıyanık is one of the leading names in our literature with both his impact on the change of conventional story understanding and his works on ordinary peoples’ lives (problems, happiness, etc.). For this reason, many studies have been conducted regarding Sait Faik and his works. The main characteristic of the writer is laziness (idleness / vagrancy) and his sympathy on hardworking people. However, we don’t see enough studies regarding these features of the writer. In our study, we are focusing on writer’s mentioned features by using some examples from recent story books of his such as “Havuz Başı” (Pool Shore) and “Son Kuşlar” (Last Birds). In this study, Sait Faik’s thought on laziness and diligence and its reflections on his works have been analyzed.
