Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun Batılılaşma çabasının resmî başlangıcı olan Tanzimat Fermanı’nın kabûlüyle ülke sathında topyekûn bir değişim dönemi başlamıştır. Böylece, sosyal, siyasal ve kültürel alanlarda yeni birtakım uygulamalar söz konusu olmuştur. Bunların başında ise toplumun çok daha hızlı ve kolay bir biçimde ayak uydurduğu şekille ilgili değişimler gelmektedir. Özellikle kadın ve erkeklerin giyim kuşamında Avrupaî bir tarzın ortaya çıkması çok uzun sürmemiştir. Sokaktaki görünümlerin değişmeye başlaması edebî metinlerde de hemen yer bulmuştur. Bu sebeple, Tanzimat Edebiyatı’nın başlangıcından itibaren yazılmış roman, öykü, sohbet, tiyatro vb. türlerdeki eserlerde alafranga insan tasvirlerine çok sık rastlanır. Bu çalışmada Tanzimat sonrası kılık-kıyafet değişimi çeşitli edebî metin örnekleri aracılığıyla ele alınacak sosyal hayatın edebiyata yansımaları ve edebiyatın sosyal tarih araştırmalarına nasıl yardımcı olabileceği ortaya konmuş olacaktır.
The aim of this study is to give information about the changing fashion trends in the Turkish literature after the Tanzimat. The literature shows the life. In that case, we focused novels, stories and memories. Especially we used literary texts belonging to second half of XIX. century and first half of XX. century. Appearance of women and men changed fastly in the Ottoman empire. After 1850’s Ottoman- Turkish women who made-up, used cosmetics and wore dress of European style. Also men wore jacket, trousers and fez. They had different moustaches. In this study, we will show that the literature reflects the real life and the literature helps to the researches of the social history.
