Metafor, dilin sembolik amaçlı kullanımına bağlı olarak bir kavram veya durumu başka bir kavram, bir durumla ifade etme biçiminde tanımlanabilir. Metaforlar üzerine, sosyal bilimlerin değişik disiplinlerinde 1980’lerden beri çok sayıda araştırma yapılmıştır. Eğitimde metaforlardan planlama, eğitim programı geliştirme, öğrenmeyi teşvik etme ve yaratıcı düşünceyi geliştirmede yararlanılabilir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, dil öğretimini meslek edinecek olan Türkçe öğretmen adaylarının “öğretmen” ve “öğrenci” kavramlarına ilişkin oluşturdukları metaforları toplamak ve toplanan metaforları çeşitli kategoriler altında sınıflandırarak algılama biçimlerini ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada ortaya çıkan sonuç, Türkçe öğretmen adaylarının çoğunlukla öğretmeni bilgi kaynağı, öğrenciyi de bilgi alıcı olarak gördükleri şeklindedir. Bir diğer önemli sonuç ise Türkçe öğretmen adaylarının bir kısmının öğretmeni üretici ve biçimlendirici; öğrenciyi de üretilen ve biçimlendirilen olarak görmesidir.
Metaphor can be described as a concept expressing a concept or a situation with an other concept or situation, which is dependent on the use of tongue for a symbolic purpose. In different disciplines of social sciences, there had been many researches on metaphors since 1980’s. Metaphors can be beneficial on planning, developing curriculum, encouraging learning and improving creative thinking in education. The aim of this study is to gather the metaphors, which are formed by Turkish student teachers’ perceptions towards “teacher” and “student” concepts whose occupation will be language teaching and to reveal the kinds of perception ways by classifying the gathered metaphors under various categories. The result revealed in this study is the fact that Turkish student teachers are mostly considering the teacher as a source of knowledge and the student as a receiver of knowledge. Another important result is that a part of Turkish student teachers is considering the teacher as a producer and shaper and the student as being produced and shaped.
