Bu çalışmada, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nin (ABD) Türkiye’deki yer altı kaynaklarıyla ilgilenmesi ve Cumhuriyet Döneminde, Türk Madenciliğinin geliştirilmesine ilişkin Amerikalı uzmanlar tarafından hazırlanan raporlar ve bunların içerikleri hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Çeşitli yönlerden önemli bir konuma sahip olan Türkiye toprakları, günümüze değin birçok devletin ilgisini çekmiştir. ABD de ilgi duyan devletlerden biridir. Onun bu coğrafyaya ilgisi 19. yüzyılın ilk yıllarına rastlamaktadır. Ticaret maksatlı kurulan ilk ilişkiler, zamanla dostluk ilişkileri çerçevesinde gelişme göstermiştir. 20. yüzyılın başlarında ABD, ticarî ilişkilerin dışında Osmanlı Devleti’nin yeraltı kaynakları ile de ilgilenmeye başlamıştır. Onun bu ilgisi Cumhuriyet Döneminde de devam etmiştir. Türk ekonomisine yön vermek ve katkı sağlamak amacıyla ABD’li uzmanlar tarafından değişik zamanlarda raporlar hazırlanmıştır.
In this study, an information was given about the reports and their contents written by American experts on the development of Turkish mining sector during the Republic Period and the interest of United States of America (USA) in Turkish underground sources. Turkish land that has importance in different aspects has appealed the interest of many countries up to today. The USA is one of these countries. The interest of the USA on Turkish land started in the first half of 19th century. The first affairs based on trade turned into a good friendship in the following years. At the begining of 20th century the USA started to deal with the underground sources of Ottoman Empire besides the trade affairs. The interest continued during the Republic Period. The USA experts typed reports about Turkish economy to support and make contributions. In these reports there were suggestions not only about the whole aspects of the economy but also about the mining. The most important suggestions among them are: a new mining law should be prepared, private and the foreign finance sectors should be supported to take part in mining and the goverment should be away from it. The previous Turkish Goverments established mining policies regarding to these reports.
