Bu çalışma noktalama işaretlerinin tarihini ele almaktadır. Batıda noktalama işaretlerinin tarihi üzerine yapılmış olan araştırmalar ile Türkçede noktalamayı ele alan çalışmalardan yararlanılarak hazırlanmıştır. Ayrıca, Osmanlı dönemi ve sonrasındaki çalışmalar ve imla kılavuzları taranarak noktalamanın Türkçedeki seyri de incelenmiştir. Çalışmada, noktalama işaretlerinin doğuşu ve ilk zamanlardaki kullanılış amaçlarına da yer verilmiştir. Makale, Türkçede Noktalama Sorunlar Çözümler Teklifler adlı doktora tezinden yararlanılarak hazırlanmıştır.
This study, that is on the history of punctuation marks; is prepared basing on some researchs which about history of punctuation in the West, and about Turkish punctuation customs and also it’s first usages in Turkish. Besides, it investigates adventure of punctuation marks in Turkish by scanning style manuals and Works that were studied in Ottoman Turkish and after. This work, focused on that when/why the punctuation marks were created, and where were located in the texts, and also studied aims of usages in the past.
