Bu yazıda Osmanlı Padişahı Yavuz Sultan Selim’in liderlik özellikleri, literatürde “Dönüştürücü Liderlik” olarak bilinen modern sonrası liderlik yaklaşımı bağlamında ve Osmanlı Ordusu merkezli olarak incelenmiştir. “Tarihsel Araştırma Yöntemi’nin kullanıldığı araştırmada; Yavuz Sultan Selim’in kişiliği, dönemindeki toplumsal olaylar, asker üzerindeki intibahı ve Osmanlı İmparatorluğu üzerinde ne gibi dönüşümler yarattığı sorularına, Dönüştürücü Liderliğin davranış boyutları ekseninde yanıt aranmıştır. Araştırmanın; Osmanlı Türk Tarihi, padişahların liderlik eğilimleri, askeri liderlik açısından bir bakış açısı oluşturma noktasında önem taşıdığı değerlendirilmektedir. Araştırma sonuçları, Yavuz Sultan Selim’in dönüştürücü liderliğin davranış boyutlarından başta “idealleştirilmiş etki” olmak üzere, “entelektüel uyarma” ve “esinsel motivasyon” boyutlarını sergilediğini göstermektedir. Bulgularda bu tarz liderliğin “bireysel destek sağlama” davranışlarına rastlanmamıştır.
There are many interesting matters about Ottomans that rules three continents as a World Empire. It is one of them that How the empire contitute its’ army and what the motivational impressive parameters of soldiers and finaly what the Ottomans’ leadership tendencies as well. All these factors contribute to rules of Ottomans throughout seven centenary. In this study Leadership behaviours of Ninth Ottoman Empire Yavuz Sultan Selim, have been examined context of Transformational Leadership postmodern leadership approach and centralized with Otoman army. “Historical research method” has been used in study and examined questions as follows from the point of wiev of Transformational Leadership. What was the social events in Selims’ term?, How was the process of becoming ottoman about him? What are the critical point about three great war? How was his impression on his soldiers? And finaly How can we describe his reforms on Empire that they transformed Otoman Empire in a short term? Research result indicate that Yavuz Sultan Selim bears distinguished Transformational Leadership behavioural charesteristics that Idealized influance, intellectual stimulation and inspirational motivations.
