İnsan ve toplumla ilgili her tür olayı konu alarak abartılı bir biçimde belirten, düşündürücü ve güldürücü resim demek olan karikatür; güzel sanatlar içerisinde değerlendirilir ve edebiyat dâhil güzel sanatların diğer alanlarıyla da etkileşim hâlindedir. İlk örneklerinden bugüne karikatür edebiyat ile güçlü bir ilişki kurmuştur. Bu çalışma öncelikle edebiyat-karikatür ilişkisini; her iki türün ortak noktaları ve farklarını değerlendirmeyi; bunu yaparken de edebiyatın nasıl ve ne ölçüde karikatüre kaynaklık ettiğini örnekleriyle açıklamayı amaçlıyor.
Caricature, which means a thought-provoking and humorous drawing taking any kind of aspects concerning the people and the society as a subject matter and expressing it in an exaggerated way, is assumed as a branch of the fine arts and is in an interaction with the other branches of the fine arts including the literature. From its earliest samples to the present, the caricature has established a strong relationship with the literature. This study primarily aims at explaining the relationship between the literature and the caricature, assessing the differences and the common points of both genres and moreover it is intended for explaining how and to what extent the literature acts as a source for the caricature.
