Âdâb, edep kelimesinin çoğulu olup, lügatte terbiye, incelik, nezâket, utanma, iyi ahlâk ve usluluk gibi anlamlara gelmektedir. Tasavvufta müridlerin şeyhine ve dervişlere karşı takınması gereken edep kuralları, Âdâbu’l-Mürîdîn, Edebü’l-Mürîd, el-Vasâyâ, Tarîkatnâme, Hurde-i Tarîkat ve, Mi‘yâr-ı Tarîkat adı altında müstakil risâleler, eserler yahut eser içinde bölümler şeklinde kaleme alınmıştır. Türk edebiyatında bu tarzda yazılmış pek çok eser mevcuttur. İşte bunlardan birisi de XIX. asır mutasavvıf şâirlerinden Osman Şems Efendi’nin Âdâbu’l-Mürîd fî Sohbeti’l-Murâd adlı mesnevîsidir. Bu makalede söz konusu mesnevî tahlîl edilerek yeni harflere bazı açıklamalarla aktarılmıştır. Osman Şems Efendi, bu eserinde mürşid, mürşidin gerekliliği ve mürîdin âdâbı gibi seyr ü sülûkla ilgili üç ana konuya temas etmiştir.

A great many works are in Turkish literature in this style. The mesnevi of Osman Şems Gentleman who is sufi-poet from nineteenth century is thus one of this kind that it is nâmed Adabu’l-Mürid fi Sohbeti’l-Murad. In this article aforementinoed mesnevi was analyzed and cited Turkish version with some explanation. Osman Şems Gentleman touched on perfect three main matter with seyr u süluk which is perfect guide, necessary of perfect guide and etiquette of disciple etc.
