Mesneviler, eski edebiyatımızda destan, menkıbe gibi uzun konuların anlatıldığı nazım biçimidir. İlk örnekleri Fars edebiyatında görülen mesnevi Türk edebiyatına da oradan geçmiştir. Edebiyatımızda mesneviler yoğun olarak XIII. ve XVIII. yüzyıllar arasında yazılmıştır. Bu mesnevilerde sıklıkla ele alınan konulardan birisi de Leylâ ile Mecnûn hikâyesidir. Bu hikâye iki âşık karakterli hikâyeler içinde en çok işleneni olmuştur. Bunu eserinde anlatan şâirlerden birisi de Kafzâde Fâizî’dir. Fakat Kafzâde Fâizî, genç yaşta ölünce bu eser yarım kalmıştır. Bu makalede, tamamlanmamış bir eser olduğu için bugüne kadar üzerinde ciddi olarak durulmayan bu eserin tanıtımı ve çeviri yazısı yapılmıştır.
Mathnawis are types of verse in which such subjects as legends and stories are narrated in our ancient literature. Mathnawis whose early examples orginate in Persian literature are also seen in Turkish literature from the same source. In our literature, mathnawis were commonly written between XIII and XVIII centuries. One of the subjects that has been dealt with is the story of Layla and Madjnun. This story is the one that is most treated among the ones with two lovers. One of the authors that tells this story in his work is Kafzâde Fâizî. But, when he dies at an early age, the work remains to be completed. In the present study, being an unfinished work, the introduction and the translation of the work on which there has been no serious comment is given.
