The Consonant And Labial Harmony Throughout Old Anatolian Turkish And Ottoman Turkish


Once the information given on consonant and labial harmony in Turkish grammar text books written on Turkey Turkish is examined, it is believed that this harmony which existed in the past has never been observed or deformed but this harmony appeared during last period of Ottoman Turkish. The researches conducted lately have shown that true examples of harmony of consonant and labial existed during last period of Ottoman Turkish. In this article, it has been argued that tracks of this harmony existed in Old Anatolian Turkish and in the texts written by Turks. It is strongly believed that growing number of researches on phonetics and such kind of subjects would contribute studies on Turkish grammar.
