Hüsn-i Hat sanatının bir kolu olarak tuğra, şekli ve Osmanlı toplum hayatındaki fonksiyonu itibariyle Klâsik Türk şiirinin konularından biridir. Tamamen devlet adamının tuğrası vasfında yazılan tuğra konulu şiirler bir tür adını belirtecek şekilde tuğraiyye olarak adlandırılmalıdır. Bu makalede tespit edilen tuğraiyye örneklerinden hareketle türle ilgili tanım yapılmıştır. Ayrıca tuğranın yapısı ve şiirlerdeki tuğra tavsifleri üzerinde durulmuştur.
Being a branch of calligraphy, the imperial monogram (tugra) is one of the subject matters of the classical Turkish poetry with regard to its form and its function within the Ottoman social life. The poems written only to describe and praise the monogram of a statesman should be called tugraiyye implying the name of the genre. In this article, definition for the genre has been made considering the examples of tugraiyye which we could find out. Also we have studied the form of a monogram and descriptions of monogram in poems.
