Keçeci-zâde İzzet Mollâ Osmanlı
Keçeci-zâde İzzet Mollâ is regarded as one of the last representatives of the Ottoman court poetry. And his work Gülşen-i Aşk [Garden of Love] is a relatively short mystic mathnawi. The critics of İzzet Mollâ are mainly focusing on three issues in connection with his Gülşen-i Aşk: Firstly, they claim that the most important characteristic of the mathnawi is İzzet Mollâ’s being the main character of the story. Secondly, the Gülşen-i Aşk was composed under heavy influence of Mawlawiyya and traces of Mawlawiyya can be followed through the text. Lastly, the mathnawi was written to resemble Hüsn ü Aşk [Beauty and Love] of Şeyh Galip or at least Hüsn ü Aşk influenced İzzet in writing his own poem. Besides sharing the transcribed text of Gülşen-i Aşk this article also aims to summarise the preceding comments on the mathnawi.
