Orhan Veli Kanık, Oktay Rifat Horozcu ve Melih Cevdet Anday’ın temsilciliğini yaptığı Garip hareketi, Cumhuriyet sonrası Türk şiirinin dönüm noktalarından birini oluşturmaktadır. Garip şairlerinin verdiği örnekler, gerek şiire getirdikleri şekil özellikleri gerekse muhtevada yaptıkları radikal yeniliklerle etkisini günümüze kadar sürdürmüştür. Bu çalışmanın amacı Garip şiirinin ortaya çıktığı dönemin koşulları, temsilcilerinin etkilendiği akımlar ve kişiler, Garip şiirinin ortaya çıkışı, gelişmesi, yarattığı etkiler, aldığı olumlu ve olumsuz eleştiriler ve sonlanışı hakkında genel bir bilgi vermektir.
The Garip movement, of which Orhan Veli Kanık, Oktay Rifat Horozcu ve Melih Cevdet Anday were the representatives, constitues one of the turning points in Turkish poetry. The examples The Garip poets gave have kept its own effects so far not only with form charactericts they brougt to the poetry but also with radical innovations they made in content. The purpose of this study is to give general information about the conditions during the period in which Garip poetry appeared, trends and people that affected its representatives, appearence of Garip poetry, its development, the impacts it made, positive and negative criticism it faced and its ending.
