A Suffix Used To Form Collective/Family Noun In The Some Dialects Of Turkish: +Ēni/+Îni


There are two suffixes used to form collective/family nouns: +gil and +lAr. These suffixes which also indicates plurality in nouns are used in almost all dialects of Turkish. This essay’s topic is suffix +ēNi+/+îNi which is used to form collective/family nouns as +gil and +lAr in some dialects of Turkish. In this essay, we extrapolate that the form of the suffix +îN(i) with close unrounded vowel is used in dialect of immigrants whereas the form of the suffix +ēNi with open unrounded vowel is used in dialects of no immigrants, of yoruk and some Oguz tribes.
