Çalışmada Türkçedeki zaman belirteçlerinin Smith (1991)’e göre sınıflaması yapılmaya çalışılmıştır. Veri tabanı olarak, Türk Dil Kurumu Türkçe Sözlük (2005) temel alınmıştır. İlgili veri tabanının yanı sıra, Özkan (2007)’ye ait Türkiye Türkçesinde Belirteçlerin Fiillerle Birlikte Kullanımları ve Eşdizimliliği adlı doktora çalışmasından da ayrıca faydalanılmıştır. Adı geçen doktora çalışmasında, 306 eser taranmış ve bu eserlerdeki belirteçler, aslına uygun biçimiyle ele alınmıştır. Bu yönüyle çalışmamızda zaman belirteçlerinin sınıflandırılmasındaki bağlam boyutu, belirtecin veri tabanlarında geçen tümce düzeyindedir. Belirteçlerin içinde geçtiği tümce ile verilmesi ve belirtecin anlamsal değerinin daha anlaşılır olması, ilgili veri tabanlarının seçilmesindeki en önemli etmen olarak görülmektedir. Veri tabanlarında yer alan belirteçlerden, sadece zaman belirteçleri seçilmiş ve Smith (1991)’in kuramına ait sınıflamadaki ilgili yerlerine yerleştirilmiştir. Sınıflamadan elde edilen zaman belirteçleri sınıflamasının betimlenmesiyle de Türkçedeki görünüş/zaman sistemleri ve zaman belirteçleri arasındaki ilişki bulunmaya/kurulmaya çalışılmıştır. Belirlenen zaman belirteçlerinin, Smith (1991)’in sınıflamasına göre dağılımları ile Türkçedeki görünüş/zaman sistemi arasında sıkı bir ilişki olduğu görülmüştür.
In the study, the classification of the time adverbials based on Smith’s (1991) theory has been tried to be applied. Turkish Language Association’s Turkish Dictionary (2007) has been chosen as the fundamental database. Moreover, the PhD study of Özkan (2007) named Türkiye Türkçesinde Belirteçlerin Fiillerle Birlikte Kullanımları ve Eşdizimliliği has also been used. In the mentioned study, 306 texts have been searched and the adverbials in these texts have been taken in their original forms/sentences. In this way, the context used in the classification on the time adverbials is at the level of the sentence in their original forms. The basic determinant about preferring the mentioned databases is that they give the adverbials in their original sentences in a more understandable context. From the adverbials taken from the databases, only the time adverbials have been chosen and these adverbials have been placed on the classification of Smith’s (1991) theory. As a result of the descriptions of the time adverbials’ classification, the relationship between the aspect/tense systems of Turkish and the time adverbials in Turkish have been tried to be found out. According to the mentioned classification, there seems to be a strong relationship between aspect/tense systems of Turkish and the classification of the time adverbials based on Smith’s (1991) theory.
