A Poet Who Resist The Tradition And His Poetry: Cem Sultan’s European Eulogy

This eulogy, which is considered to be Cem Sultan’s, is like a summary which is a part from the poet’s melancholic life story and which tells Europe through very colorful description because of subject it deals with. This poem, when its features like rhyming style and number of couplets are taken into consideration, can be considered as a eulogy in terms of its verse from. Eulogy, when examined in terms of its section, doesn’t include some of the sections which must exist in a classical eulogy. When the subject of the poem is examined, it is seen that the poet describes the Nice city of France, the beautifuls and the beauties in the cty, tells about the social life of Europe at the time and about a section of his life story, and meanwhile gives some advices. In the poem, the poet presents more native and different materias in terms of the subject of the poem, which is against the eulogy tradition of the century. Furthermore, this poem may be considered as a worthy historical, literary, folkloric and sociological document since it describes the Europe of that time and life style in Europe.
